Tool #11 and Reflection

This tool was very interesting. Using technology in the classroom, I have had to tackle a few of the elements of digital citizenship in the past few years. Three things I will review and teach to my students will be the importance of having rules and systems to using the internet effectively and correctly. I will teach the students digital etiquett and digital literacy. The students need to understand what is appropriate and what is not while using technology. They need to also make sure they have more than one piece of research to base their reports on and that their research is validated. I will also teach my students of digital law aspects of what they do, such as: plagerism, identity theft, and safety.

Reflection:
The three tools that I like where creating a comic strip, photostory, and learning about all the different applications for the IPOD touch and Iphone. Completing these activities have given me the experience and wanting to continue my technological learning so I can be literate enought to make learning fun and interesting for my students. I have changed my thinking on blogging and using an Ipod touch. I am excited to go and purchase one of my own.

Tool # 10

I enjoyed viewing several of the free apps. for the Ipod touch. I liked the Labrynth app. It was fun to see the different games to play. These help the students with eye/hand coordination and problem solving. There were apps for math problems and games, as well as, apps for US history. The app for info and maps of the United States would be very useful in my classroom because my students complete a research project on a state. There is so many apps for the students to use. I am just worried about monitoring what they will be doing.

Tool #9

Using Jing, I would incorporate this website with my students in different projects they will have. The students can use Jing sharing information with each other and finding searches whether it is at school or at home.I could not get into Skyped, but I would use Jing.

Tool #8 cont.

this is link to the video of teaching students to write a paragraph.

Too#7 cont.

Here is my photostory. I hope you enjoy it.

Tool #8

I found this video on Cause and Effect. http://www.teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=20516&title=Cause_and_Effect_Lesson&ref=Elysevidrine. Students have a hard time understanding this concept, so I thought this would help them understand and find examples in their own life experiences.

The second video is on creating a good paragraph and essay. I will use this when I introduce the process of writing a paragraph then move into writing an essay.

Tool #6

Wikis will be fun for the students as well as the teachers. I can see students using a wiki when working on a group project, report, or studying. I created a wiki for my classroom on wikispaces. I can't wait to encourage my students to explore and create!

Tool #5

I spent alot of time completing Tool #5. I created several bookmarks in delicious. I found interesting articles on Bloom's Taxonomy and links to creating books and comic strips. I think the students will enjoy creating comic strips. This will keep them involved while practicing their creativity and vocabulary.

Tool #4

I just finished my Google Reader and Google Doc. It was fun. I can see how the students and teachers can save time when they are working on projects together and are not close at hand to edit what needs to be edited. I will make it a point to utilize these applications in my classroom. The students will love it!

Tool #3 cont.

After spending more than 1 1/2 hours doing and redoing this cloud, I finally got it to save!!!! I would use a word cloud to illustrate word usage in text writing with my 4th grade students. This story, The Tenth Good Thing About Barney, is a sweet story to show emotion and repetitive vocabulary.

Tool #3

I would use this as a writing prompt for students to create their own comic strip to share with not only the student's PLN, but other PLN's of different students in other schools around the country.

Tool # 2

I have been very apprehensive but curious about creating a PLN. I dabbled a little with Myspace and Facebook, but I didn't really understand the importance it would be for the teaching profession. I can interact with teachers all over and discuss what we are teaching. It will be a very fascinating, as well as, educational experience for me.

I have learned from the other comments that I am not the only person who is excited about learning new things that will help us teach our students and keep up with them.
